Damiana Leaf C/S
Damiana Leaf C/S
Damiana is a gnarly shrub with jagged green leaves and sunny yellow flowers. Found in arid regions of Mexico, north to Texas, south to Brazil and east to the Caribbean, the aromatic plant is host for the Mexican fritillary butterfly; and its leaves, harvested in summer, are popular in tea blends and herbal remedies.
According to folklore, damiana is a revered aphrodisiac. Contemporary herbalists use damiana leaf as a general tonic, not just to evoke passion, but also to support fertility and menstruation, prostate and bladder health. The herb’s mild stimulant and restorative properties are often used in nerve tonics to ease anxiety and depression.
Known for its enticing, spicy and chamomile-like aroma and clove-like flavor, damiana leaf is traditionally infused in teas or liqueurs. More recently, the soothing herb has become popular in herbal smoking blends and extracts.
