Rose Petals (Pink)
Rose Petals (Pink)
Scientific Name: Rosa centifolia
Preparation: Whole
Place of Origin: India
Traditionally pink roses symbolize gratitude, joy, and admiration. Their sweet scent and classic beauty evoke the warmth of summer — rose is June’s birth flower, after all. In herbal medicine, by contrast, rose is considered cooling. Rose water, lotions, and poultices are used for their anti- inflammatory and soothing properties, calming both emotion and inflamed skin.
Rose petals make a beautiful, aromatic addition to potpourris and sachets and are widely used in soothing herbal teas, drinks, and syrups. The edible petals also garnish salads and desserts and are popular in culinary creations like rose petal preserves (gulkand) and spice blends like ras el hanout and advieh.
Rosa x centifolia, the cabbage rose or Provence rose, is particularly valued for its large blooms and intense, honey- like fragrance. The hybrid originated in the Netherlands hundreds of years ago and remains one of the most popular roses for perfumes and cosmetics.
