Rose Buds Whole (Red)
Rose Buds Whole (Red)
Scientific Name: Rosa centifolia
Preparation: Whole
Place of Origin: Pakistan
Harvest Method: Wildcrafted
Red roses, the symbol of romantic love, make a beautiful, aromatic addition to potpourris, soaps, and herbal teas. The cabbage rose (Rosa x centifolia) in particular is valued for its large blooms and intense, honey-like fragrance. The hybrid originated in the Netherlands hundreds of years ago and remains one of the most popular roses for perfumes and cosmetics.
The rose is one of June’s birth flowers, and its sweet scent and classic beauty evoke the warmth of summer. In herbal medicine, by contrast, rose is considered cooling. A mist of rose water, rose lotions, and rose poultices are used for their anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, calming both emotion and inflamed skin.
Whole dried rose flowers vary from tightly closed buds to open flowers with loose petals. While the petals are edible and used in a variety of culinary preparations, the whole flowers are often used decoratively, adding color and texture to herbal teas, homemade soaps, candles, potpourris, and botanical bath blends.
